12 JUNE 2027
Ci vediamo in Calabria
A note from us
We are so excited to celebrate this special moment with our favourite people.
If you are able, we would love for you to arrive a day or two before the wedding so we can spend extra time together and enjoy beautiful Calabria.
Our story
Almost a decade in the making — though our paths crossed long before that. From pre-school to high school, we were always close by, living separate lives without quite realising it.
Then came one simple question — needing a date to a high school dance — and suddenly we were on each other's radar.
We thought that was the end of it as we headed into adult life, with no idea where university would take us. Fate had other plans: we landed ten minutes apart. That's where our story officially began, in the third week of university.
A few years later, another question came — should we move abroad and build a future together? We said yes. Since then, we've made a life in the Netherlands: careers, a home, and each other.
We've been family for almost a decade. Now it's time to make it official — and we'd love for you to be there when we do.

Getting to Lamezia Terme (SUF)
A note on travel
This is purely travel advice, feel free to choose the route that works best for you. If you’re unsure about something or want advice, please feel free to reach out to either of us, we’re happy to help.
We will keep updating this guide with links and more information closer to the time, so check back here.
From Johannesburg (JNB)
Fly to Rome (FCO) or Milan (MXP) with Emirates (via Dubai), Qatar Airways (via Doha), Ethiopian Airlines (via Addis Ababa) or Turkish Airlines (via Istanbul). From Rome or Milan, connect to Lamezia Terme with ITA Airways, Ryanair or easyJet.
Total travel time: approx. 13 – 16 hours
From the Netherlands
Amsterdam (AMS) or Eindhoven (EIN) — direct or one-stop flights to Lamezia Terme with Ryanair or Transavia. As an alternative, Ryanair and Wizz Air fly from Brussels South Charleroi (CRL), often for less: about a 2½-hour drive from Amsterdam, or a direct Flibco coach from Brussels.
From the United Kingdom
London Heathrow (LHR), Gatwick (LGW) or Luton (LTN) — direct or one-stop flights to Lamezia Terme with easyJet or Ryanair.
From Barcelona
Direct seasonal flights to Lamezia Terme, or connect via Rome or Milan.
From Lisbon
Direct seasonal flights to Lamezia Terme, or connect via Rome.
Capo Vaticano is approximately 1 hour 20 minutes by car from Lamezia Terme Airport.
Getting around
Car hire
Hertz, Avis, Europcar, Sixt and Locauto have desks at Lamezia Terme Airport. A car is by far the easiest way to reach Capo Vaticano. Book well ahead — June is high season and automatics sell out first. Compare prices on discovercars.com or rentalcars.com.
Trains
Trenitalia runs the coastal line from Lamezia Terme Centrale down to Tropea and Nicotera. Download the Trenitalia app for tickets and live times: trenitalia.com
Buses & taxis
Local buses and taxis connect Tropea, Ricadi and Capo Vaticano, but services thin out in the evenings.
Transfers
Private airport transfers are sometimes possible – check with your hotel or accommodation if this is something they can arrange.
Where to stay
Twelve hand-picked places near Il Faro. All include breakfast and cost under €190 a night for two.

Semi-formal, coastal Mediterranean
Think a summer evening on the Italian coast: relaxed, elegant and light.
Colours
Our palette is soft and Mediterranean: sand, warm brown, sage, olive, dusty blue, sea blue, terracotta and ochre. Treat it as inspiration rather than a rule. Any shade in this family is perfect, and soft prints are welcome. We’d just kindly ask you to skip:
Black
White, ivory or cream for ladies (we’re saving those for the bride)
Our colour palette: sand, warm brown, sage, olive, dusty blue, sea blue, terracotta and ochre
Gentlemen
·
Chinos or tailored trousers. Cream, stone, taupe and soft grey are all welcome.
·
A button-up shirt, ideally long-sleeved. White is fine.
·
Smart closed shoes, please.
·
A jacket and tie are optional. A soft grey or taupe jacket works well.
·
Please avoid a full green or beige suit. The groom may wear one of these, and we’d like him to stand out.
Ladies
·
A long or midi summer dress, or a smart pantsuit or jumpsuit, in a breathable fabric. Soft greys and taupe work beautifully alongside the palette.
·
Wear whatever shoes you’re comfortable in. Stiletto heels and cobblestones aren’t friends, so block heels or elegant flats are your best bet.
Weather
June in Capo Vaticano is warm, around 22–26 °C. Evenings by the sea can be breezy, so bring a light layer.

Passports & visas
{{ signVisa }}
South African passports
A Schengen visa is required. Apply for an Italian short-stay (Type C) tourist visa through VFS Global, which handles Italian visa applications in South Africa. You will need your passport, return flights, accommodation bookings, bank statements, travel insurance and an invitation letter — we will provide the letter, just ask.
EU passports
Portuguese, Italian, Greek and Dutch passport holders have free movement within the EU and Schengen Area. A valid passport or national ID card is all you need.
UK passports
No visa required for short stays — up to 90 days in any 180-day period.
SA passport holders living abroad
If you live in the Netherlands or Spain on a South African passport, you need a valid residence permit and passport. If you live in the UK on a South African passport, you will require a Schengen visa. Apply through the Italian consulate or its visa partner in your country of residence. Check your re-entry requirements too.
Schengen visa lead times
Appointments open up to six months before travel — from December 2026.
Apply at least 3 months before you fly.
Standard processing is around 15 calendar days, but can stretch to 45 in peak season.
VFS slots book out fast over the European summer, so aim to start by February 2027.
What you will need
A passport valid at least 6 months beyond your stay, with two blank pages — so it should expire no earlier than December 2027
Return flight booking
Confirmed accommodation booking
Recent bank statements
Travel insurance for the Schengen Area
Proof of employment or income
Our invitation letter — just ask and we will send it
